Ininew Patient Services switching to automated voicemail appointment notices during Canada Post strike, WAHA webpage says

Ininew Patient Services will notify clients about appointments using automated voicemail messages while the Canada Post strike continues, according to a Weeneebayko Area Health Authority (WAHA) webpage dated Feb. 19, 2026 that was posted on behalf of Ininew Patient Services.

The update affects how appointment notices are delivered for people in WAHA-served communities along the James Bay and Hudson Bay coast, where mailed notices may be delayed during the national labour disruption.

The webpage says the automated system leaves a recorded message on a client’s phone voicemail.

Appointment notices will also continue to be sent by email to clients who have signed an email consent form, according to the same posting.

Canada Post workers began striking across Canada on Nov. 15, 2024, the webpage states.

The consent forms are available at WAHA health facilities in Moosonee, Moose Factory, Peawanuck, Kashechewan, Fort Albany and Attawapiskat. The posting lists pickup locations as WAHA’s NIHB office in Moosonee; the Family Medicine Clinic at Weeneebayko General Hospital in Moose Factory; nursing stations in Peawanuck and Kashechewan; and the hospitals in Fort Albany and Attawapiskat.

The webpage is dated Feb. 19, 2026, but lists “last updated” as Nov. 25, 2024.
