Iroquois Falls seeks resident for OPP board; deadline December 11
The Town of Iroquois Falls is seeking a resident who is neither a municipal councillor nor a municipal employee to serve on the South Porcupine OPP Detachment Board for the 2026–2030 term. Applications are due by noon on Friday, December 11, 2026.
The board provides civilian oversight of the South Porcupine Ontario Provincial Police detachment. The town says its responsibilities include reviewing policing priorities, working with police on local concerns, and ensuring transparency and accountability in policing services.
A demonstrated commitment to public safety, equity and community engagement is preferred. Previous experience in governance or with community organizations is an asset, but is not required.
The eight-member board will include two councillors appointed by Iroquois Falls council, two councillors appointed by Black River-Matheson Township council, one community representative from each municipality and two members appointed by the minister. Neither community representative may be a councillor or employee of the municipality they represent.
