John Wright named diagnostic imaging director in shared WAHA–Timmins hospital role
John Wright has been appointed director of diagnostic imaging services at the Weeneebayko Area Health Authority (WAHA) in a new cross-organizational leadership role shared with Timmins and District Hospital, according to WAHA.
The appointment links WAHA’s diagnostic imaging service with Timmins and District Hospital’s diagnostic imaging leadership at a time when WAHA is planning for a redevelopment and transition to a new facility in 2030.
WAHA said the new role is part of an expanded partnership between the two organizations that includes a formal leadership position for diagnostic imaging.
In the position, Wright will “bring together expertise” from WAHA and Timmins and District Hospital “to lead a regional, integrated approach to diagnostic imaging services,” WAHA said.
Day-to-day responsibilities for the role were not described.
WAHA said Wright began his career with the health authority as a frontline medical radiation technologist before moving into leadership roles.
Wright oversees diagnostic imaging, imaging informatics and cardio-respiratory services at Timmins and District Hospital, and WAHA said he is an MBA candidate.
WAHA said Wright has more than a decade of experience in diagnostic imaging, health services management and project leadership.
WAHA also said Wright received the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal.
In its announcement, WAHA said it “look[s] forward to the continued strengthening” of its partnership with Timmins and District Hospital as it prepares for its redevelopment and transition to a new facility in 2030.
