Ladurée pistachio pastries recalled in Ontario over Salmonella risk
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency issued a Class 2 food recall warning on October 31 for certain pistachio pastries sold online in Ontario and at three Ladurée locations in Toronto due to possible Salmonella contamination linked to an ongoing foodborne-illness investigation.
Food contaminated with Salmonella may not look or smell spoiled and can cause serious illness. Young children, pregnant women, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems are at higher risk.
The recall covers two clerk-served products with no UPC codes:
- Pistachio pain au chocolat (single units), sold from May 20, 2025, up to and including October 28, 2025, at Ladurée Yorkville (162 Cumberland St., Toronto), Ladurée Yorkdale (246-3401 Dufferin St., Toronto), and Ladurée Exchange Tower in The PATH (130 King St. W, Toronto).
- St-Honoré pistachio (individual single unit or as a larger cake), sold from September 17, 2025, up to and including October 28, 2025, at Ladurée Yorkdale (246-3401 Dufferin St., Toronto).
The CFIA advises consumers not to consume, use, sell, serve or distribute the recalled products and to throw them out or return them to the place of purchase. The agency also says anyone who thinks they became sick after consuming a recalled product should contact their healthcare provider.
The recall was triggered by CFIA findings during a foodborne-illness investigation. The Public Health Agency of Canada is investigating an outbreak of human illness related to this event. The CFIA says its food safety investigation may lead to additional recalls and that it is verifying industry is removing recalled products from the marketplace.
The recalling firm is listed as MXM Enterprises Inc. / Ladurée Canada. The recall identification number is RA-78419.
