Level Up! Skilled Trades Career Fairs Scheduled for Timmins in October

Level Up! skilled trades career fairs will take place across Ontario from September 17 to December 12, 2025, with events scheduled in Timmins on October 15 and 16, according to the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development.

These fairs are organized for students in grades 7 to 12, as well as their parents and jobseekers, offering information about careers in the skilled trades. The ministry reports that about one in three tradespeople in Ontario are nearing retirement. It also states that one in five new job openings in the province by 2028 are projected to be in skilled trades-related occupations.

The ministry expects attendance for the Level Up! fairs to exceed 50,000 people this year, which is an increase from nearly 45,000 attendees last year. According to the ministry, attendees will have access to over 200 exhibitors, including representatives from trades such as electricians, heavy equipment operators, and automotive service technicians. The ministry states that the events will include interactive exhibits, demonstrations, and opportunities to speak directly with employers and tradespeople.

According to the ministry, 16,412 youth aged 15 to 24 are registered for apprenticeship programs in Ontario in 2025, representing the highest number in the last ten years. The ministry also reports that since 2021, the province has invested $1.5 billion through the Skills Development Fund for skills training programs, and has announced plans to invest nearly $1 billion more through the fund over the next three years.
