Wastewater Overflow Reported at Whitney-Tisdale Pump Station #2

On April 29, 2025, the Region of Durham reported an overflow at Whitney-Tisdale Pump Station #2. According to the Region, a mechanical failure in the main pump led to the release of partially treated wastewater into a nearby drainage channel.

The Region of Durham stated that the overflow was discovered during regular system monitoring. Crews responded by addressing the mechanical problem and carrying out containment and clean-up measures at the site. The report did not specify the volume of wastewater released.

Monitoring of the affected drainage area is ongoing, according to the Region. No public advisories or restrictions on water use in the surrounding area have been issued at this time, based on statements from the Region of Durham.
