Mon Père Camembert Cheese Recalled Over Listeria Risk
A recall has been issued for Mon Père brand Camembert cheese due to potential contamination with Listeria monocytogenes, according to the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA). The affected cheese was sold in 250-gram packages at Cheese Boutique, 45 Ripley Avenue, Toronto, Ontario, with best before dates of July 31, 2025, and August 14, 2025. The product's UPC is 3 365500 001337.
The CFIA states that no illnesses connected to the recalled product have been reported in Canada as of August 13, 2025. The recall was triggered by a similar action in another country.
The CFIA advises that food contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes may not appear or smell spoiled but can cause illness. Symptoms can include vomiting, nausea, persistent fever, muscle aches, severe headache, and neck stiffness. The agency says older adults, pregnant women, and those with weakened immune systems are particularly at risk. According to the CFIA, although pregnant women who become infected may experience only mild, flu-like symptoms, the infection can lead to premature delivery, infection of the newborn, or stillbirth. In severe cases, illness may be fatal.
The CFIA reports its food safety investigation is ongoing and may lead to additional recalls. The agency also states that it is verifying the recalled products are being removed from the marketplace.
