NDP Ends Supply and Confidence Agreement with Liberals
NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh has announced the termination of the Supply and Confidence Agreement with the Liberal government, which was originally signed in 2022.
In a video address, Singh stated, "The fact is, the Liberals are too weak, too selfish and too beholden to corporate interests to fight for people. They cannot stop the Conservatives. But we can."
Singh noted that the end of the agreement does not automatically trigger an election; rather, a majority of parliamentarians must vote against the government on a confidence measure to do so. He indicated that the NDP is prepared for an election and that voting non-confidence will be considered with every confidence measure moving forward.
