Ontario Government to Fund New Seniors’ Housing Project in Peterborough

The Ontario government announced on February 18, 2025, that up to $9.8 million will be allocated for the construction of a new seniors’ housing facility in Peterborough. According to the official release, the funding comes from the fifth round of the Social Services Relief Fund.

The project will consist of 60 residential units designed for seniors. The Ontario government stated that these units will have accessible features and provide residents with access to personal care and supportive services.

Paul Calandra, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing, said the investment will support the creation of the housing units in Peterborough. Construction is scheduled to begin in the coming months, with completion anticipated by summer 2026, as per the government’s announcement.
