Ontario Northland Holds Accessibility Public Meeting

Ontario Northland conducted an online Accessibility Public Meeting to present its 2023-2027 Multi-Year Accessibility Plan. The meeting aimed to gather feedback from the public, particularly individuals with disabilities.

Key points discussed during the meeting include:

• Multi-Year Accessibility Plan: Developed with the Accessibility Advisory Committee, the plan focuses on inclusivity and accessibility.
• Website Update: The public-facing website has been updated to comply with WCAG 2.0 Level AA standards. Feedback from the Accessibility Advisory Committee was crucial in testing the website's accessibility features, including screen readers and the ticketing system.
• Barrier-Free Audits: Audits were conducted at various locations to identify and implement recommendations for increasing accessibility and reducing barriers.
• Motor Coach Enhancements: Two new motor coaches are on order, featuring designated space for service and support animals while maintaining legroom for passengers.

A post-event survey was distributed to attendees to gather further feedback on the meeting and the Multi-Year Accessibility Plan. The insights will guide Ontario Northland in improving its services and future meetings.
