Ontario Opens Applications for $400 Million in Road and Bridge Funding
The Ontario government announced that it will begin accepting applications for funding under the $400 million Housing-Enabling Core Servicing stream of the $1 billion Municipal Housing Infrastructure Program starting August 21. The funding is intended to build, maintain, and repair core assets such as municipal roads, bridges, and culverts to support the construction of new homes.
Of the $400 million, $120 million is allocated to projects in small, rural, and northern municipalities that do not have housing targets. This allocation aims to support the unique needs of these communities.
Municipalities can submit applications for eligible projects, which include new construction, rehabilitation, repair, reconstruction, or replacement of road and bridge assets that enable housing infrastructure and promote community growth. More information about the program and application process is available at ontario.ca/housinginfrastructure.
The remaining funding under the Municipal Housing Infrastructure Program will help municipalities address other key infrastructure priorities, including maintaining the health and safety of local water and wastewater systems.
