Committee on Internal Trade Agrees on New Measures to Enhance Commerce

On February 28, 2025, the Committee on Internal Trade (CIT) met in Toronto to discuss and implement measures aimed at addressing internal trade barriers within Canada. The meeting, led by Minister of Transport and Internal Trade Anita Anand, concluded with an agreement among federal, provincial, and territorial representatives to promote free labor movement and standardize trade regulations.

The CIT's newly agreed measures are designed to reduce regulatory obstacles and improve inter-provincial commerce. These efforts continue to focus on economic integration across the country, with specific attention to enhancing cooperation between various jurisdictions.

Throughout the discussions, officials emphasized the importance of aligning regional regulations to facilitate smoother trade activities. These updates are set to impact business and labor mobility, likely influencing regions such as those in Northern Ontario, including Timmins and areas in the broader Northeast.
