Pistachio & Knafeh Milk Chocolate Recall Issued for Ontario Due to Salmonella Risk
Several brands of Pistachio & Knafeh Milk Chocolate have been recalled in Ontario, Quebec, and British Columbia due to possible Salmonella contamination, according to the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA). The CFIA stated that the recall was announced on August 14, 2025, and includes products sold online and at retail stores.
The CFIA warns that consuming these chocolates can pose health risks, especially for young children, older adults, pregnant women, and individuals with weakened immune systems. Food contaminated with Salmonella may not appear or smell spoiled but can still cause illness.
The recall affects 145-gram Pistachio & Knafeh Milk Chocolate products from the following brands:
- Chocofolie: "Chocolat Dubaï - chocolat au lait kunafa & pistache" (all codes from 225097 to 225184)
- Chocolato: "Chocolat Dubaï - chocolat au lait kunafa & pistache" (all codes from 225093 to 225132)
- Chocolats Favoris: Dubai Chocolate - Pistachio & Knafeh Milk Chocolate (all lots from 225133 to 225203)

The CFIA advises that these products should not be consumed, served, used, sold, or distributed. Symptoms of Salmonella infection can include fever, headache, vomiting, nausea, abdominal cramps, and diarrhea. According to the CFIA, long-term complications could include severe arthritis.
The recall was triggered by test results during an investigation into a foodborne illness outbreak, according to the CFIA. The Public Health Agency of Canada is also investigating an outbreak linked to these products. The CFIA states it is ensuring that recalled products are being removed from stores.
