Raw wastewater overflow reported at Whitney-Tisdale Pump Station #4 in Timmins

A raw wastewater overflow started at Whitney-Tisdale Pump Station #4 in Timmins at 10:30 p.m. on April 14, 2026, according to a City of Timmins Environmental Services Department notice. The city listed the pump station’s address as 5121 Highway 101 East.

The notice did not list when the overflow ended or how much wastewater was by-passed. The city also did not provide a cause.

In the report, the city listed the end date, end time and volume by-passed as “TBD.”

The city posted several wastewater-related reports on April 13 and April 14, including notices involving other Whitney-Tisdale pump stations and the Mattagami Water Pollution Control Plant.

The city said overflows and bypasses can happen when treatment processes are overwhelmed, including during heavy rainfall or snowmelt. It also said that during an overflow or by-pass, partially treated wastewater may be diverted away from a treatment process to prevent backups or damage to the system.

The notice asked residents to conserve water during rainstorms by delaying or limiting “unnecessary usage,” including laundry, long showers or running the dishwasher. It also asked residents not to flush wipes.
