The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has announced a recall of Organic Traditions brand Jumbo Pumpkin Seeds due to a potential risk of Salmonella contamination. The recall affects 227 g and 454 g package sizes with specific UPC codes.
Salmonella is a bacterium that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections, especially in young children, the elderly, pregnant women, and those with compromised immune systems. Symptoms can include fever, headache, vomiting, nausea, abdominal cramps, and diarrhea.
These products have been distributed nationally by Advantage Health Matters across Canada. Consumers are advised not to consume, sell, or distribute the recalled products. Instead, they should dispose of the seeds or return them to the retailer. As of the latest update, no illnesses have been reported in connection with these products.
