Schumacher may see low water pressure or discoloured tap water July 10 during pump station maintenance

Schumacher homes and businesses may see low water pressure or brown or rust-coloured tap water on July 10 as the City of Timmins’ Environmental Services Department carries out scheduled pump station maintenance from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The city says the work is expected to affect all of Schumacher, and it provided instructions for residents if their tap water becomes discoloured during the maintenance window.

In its notice, the City of Timmins said people should not drink or wash laundry with discoloured water.

The city said discoloured water is not harmful to health, but it can stain laundry.

If tap water turns brown or rust-coloured, the city advised residents to turn on the cold-water tap closest to the source—usually a laundry tub tap—and let it run for about 15 to 20 minutes, or until the water returns to its normal colour.
