Service Timmins adds live chat option on city website and service portal

The City of Timmins has added a live chat option, called Service Timmins Chat, to its website and the Service Timmins customer service portal. The city says the chat is available during regular Service Timmins business hours, Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

For residents and businesses who contact Service Timmins with questions or service requests, the new tool offers an online way to reach staff during business hours instead of calling or visiting in person.

According to a city announcement, the live chat is available on both timmins.ca and the Service Timmins portal at service.timmins.ca.

The city said it began a soft launch of the chat on March 16 to test and refine the system. Since then, the city said it has received more than 220 inquiries through the platform.

The city said staff handle chat requests and incoming phone calls in a single priority queue during business hours.

The city also said the chat is intended to help residents who have language, hearing, or mobility challenges.

The city said the live chat provides a transcript that users can save and review later.

On the city website and the service portal, the chat icon appears in the bottom-right corner of the page, according to the announcement.
