Smooth Rock Falls calls April 13 emergency council meeting; closed session to address Public Works staffing issues

Smooth Rock Falls council has called an emergency meeting for April 13, 2026, at 6 p.m. in the Council Chambers at Town Hall. The town’s public notice says council will convene in closed session to discuss “significant staffing issues” in the Public Works Department that the town says present “an immediate risk to municipal operations.”

Because the discussion is set for closed session, it will not be open to the public. The notice does not provide details about what the staffing issues are or which municipal operations the town considers at risk.

The notice cites Section 6.5 of the town’s procedural by-law as the authority for calling the emergency meeting.

It also says the meeting is being held in accordance with the Municipal Act, 2001 rules on closed meetings.
