Smooth Rock Falls closes Sixth Street near park and pool until Sept. 15
Smooth Rock Falls has closed Sixth Street between Third Avenue East and Hollywood Avenue for the summer, with the closure set to last until Sept. 15.
The closed stretch runs past Liz McCafferty Park, the municipal pool and the splash pad, limiting vehicle access through that area while the road is shut.
The town describes the closure as an annual measure tied to increased pedestrian, cycling and outdoor activity around the park and water facilities during the summer.
A public washroom in the pool building is open daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
The town has not announced an opening date for the municipal pool or splash pad.
In its notice, the town says the area is a Community Safety Zone and is reminding drivers to watch for children, pedestrians and cyclists and follow posted signs and speed limits.
