Smooth Rock Falls council to meet May 21; closed session planned for labour negotiations

Smooth Rock Falls council will hold an emergency special meeting Thursday, May 21, and plans to move into a closed session to discuss labour relations and employee negotiations connected to collective agreement proposals.

The meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. in the council chambers at town hall. The closed-session item means parts of the meeting dealing with those negotiations will not be open to the public.

According to a public notice issued by the Town of Smooth Rock Falls, the special council meeting was called under Section 6.4 of the town’s procedural bylaw.

The notice also states council will convene in closed session under Section 239(2)(d) of Ontario’s Municipal Act, 2001, a provision used for discussions about labour relations or employee negotiations.

No other agenda items were listed in the notice.
