Smooth Rock Falls Declares January as Alzheimer Awareness Month
The Town of Smooth Rock Falls has officially declared January 2025 as National Alzheimer Awareness Month. This initiative is intended to increase awareness about Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia within the community.
According to the Alzheimer Society, more than 733,040 Canadians are currently living with Alzheimer’s disease, with projections suggesting this number could rise to nearly 1 million by 2031. The Alzheimer Society Cochrane-Temiskaming is actively involved in providing services and support to those affected in the region.
Mayor Patrick Roberts made the proclamation, highlighting the importance of community awareness and support for individuals living with dementia. The town is focusing on fostering a supportive environment for those affected by the disease.
Throughout January, various activities and educational events will be organized to engage the community and promote understanding of Alzheimer’s disease. Residents are encouraged to participate and contribute to building a supportive community environment.
