Smooth Rock Falls declares Significant Weather Event; snow removal delays expected on some roads and most sidewalks

The Town of Smooth Rock Falls declared a Significant Weather Event on March 16, 2026, citing heavy snowfall, strong winds and reduced visibility. The town said snow removal delays are expected on some roads and most sidewalks.

The declaration matters for residents who rely on cleared streets and sidewalks for travel and daily errands, because the town is warning that some winter maintenance will take longer than usual during the storm.

The town is asking residents to use caution when travelling and to avoid unnecessary trips, if possible.

The town also reminded residents that its winter parking ban remains in effect from midnight to 7 a.m.

In the same notice, the town asked residents to avoid on-street parking, if possible, to help Public Works with snow removal operations.

The town said the Significant Weather Event declaration will remain in effect until further notice.
