Smooth Rock Falls gives $2,269.05 in MAT funding to minor hockey 4-on-4 tournament

The Town of Smooth Rock Falls provided $2,269.05 in Municipal Accommodation Tax (MAT) funding to Smooth Rock Falls Minor Hockey for its annual 4-on-4 Hockey Tournament, held Sept. 19, 2026, in Smooth Rock Falls.

The funding is part of the town’s 2026 MAT program. In its announcement, council said the tournament brings teams, families and visitors to the community from across the region.

Council listed Iroquois Falls, Timmins, Cochrane, Kapuskasing, Hearst and Longlac as communities visitors travel from for the tournament.

A promotional image posted with the announcement shows a ceremonial cheque dated Sept. 19, 2026, payable to SRF Minor Hockey for $2,269.05. The cheque’s reference line reads “4 on 4 Tournament.”

The town did not say how the funding would be used.
