Smooth Rock Falls Introduces Municipal Accommodation Tax

The Town of Smooth Rock Falls has announced the implementation of a four percent (4%) Municipal Accommodation Tax (MAT) on all rooms sold for overnight accommodation. This tax will be mandatory for all accommodation providers operating within the town. Revenues from room incidentals, meeting room rentals, food and beverage, room service, laundry services, and parking are excluded from this tax.

Accommodation providers are required to register their establishments with the Town of Smooth Rock Falls by submitting a completed Accommodation Establish Form by September 27, 2024. New establishments must register within thirty days of commencing business. Providers will be responsible for collecting and remitting the tax.
