Smooth Rock Falls July notice lists Canada Day closure, kids’ event, council meeting dates, election timeline and tax due date

Smooth Rock Falls Town Hall will be closed on Canada Day, July 1, 2026, according to the town’s July edition of its “Citizen’s Corner” notice.

The same notice lists several upcoming dates residents may want to mark, including a Canada Day event for children, two July council meeting times, key dates for Ontario’s 2026 municipal election calendar, and a property tax payment deadline.

The town is advertising “Canada Day Fun for Kids” on Wednesday, July 1, from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Liz McCafferty Park and the Smooth Rock Falls Municipal Pool. The notice describes it as “a free afternoon” and lists activities including live music, hot dogs, cotton candy, outdoor games for children and “pool fun.”

For the municipal pool, the notice lists public swims, family swims, Aquafit and swim lessons as part of summer programming. It also states the pool is available for private rentals.

Two regular Smooth Rock Falls council meetings are scheduled for July, both at 6 p.m.: July 6, 2026, and July 20, 2026.

The July notice also lists Oct. 26, 2026, as municipal election day, with the nomination period ending Aug. 21, 2026.

For property taxes, the notice says the 2026 final tax bill will be mailed in early July, and the first installment is due July 31, 2026.
