Smooth Rock Falls lists five municipal election candidates as of Aug. 12

Five candidates had filed nomination papers in Smooth Rock Falls’ 2026 municipal election as of 1:16 p.m. on Aug. 12, according to the town’s unofficial “List of Nominations Filed.”

The list provides a snapshot of who has entered the race so far, with nominations remaining open until 2 p.m. on Nomination Day, Aug. 21. The town’s notice states the list is for information purposes and will be updated on an ongoing basis as nominations are received.

For mayor, the list includes Patrick Roberts and Gratien Bernier.

For councillor, the list includes Joe Couture (Jean-Marie), Leslie Gagnon and Tracy Gagnon.

The nomination period began May 1 and continues until 2 p.m. on Aug. 21, according to the notice.

After nominations close, the clerk will certify nominations in accordance with the Municipal Elections Act, 1996, the town’s notice says.
