Smooth Rock Falls posts emergency plan checklist for residents during Emergency Preparedness Week

The Town of Smooth Rock Falls posted an emergency plan checklist for residents on its website May 6, listing items such as how to contact family members, a meeting place if people must leave home, emergency contacts, and plans for pets and loved ones who need extra support. The post appeared during Emergency Preparedness Week, which runs May 3 to 9, 2026.

Emergency plans can matter during events that disrupt normal services or require people to leave home on short notice. The town’s checklist focuses on basic steps residents can decide in advance so they have key information ready if an emergency happens.

In its online post, the town says an emergency plan helps people know what to do and where to go if something happens.

The checklist lists four suggested elements for a household plan: a way to contact family members, a meeting place if residents must leave home, emergency contacts, and plans for pets and for loved ones who may need extra support.

The town’s post also links to a Government of Canada “hazards and emergencies” webpage.

A poster included with the post lists the dates for Emergency Preparedness Week as May 3 to 9, 2026, and includes the web address canada.ca/get-prepared.
