Smooth Rock Falls posts unofficial list of 2026 municipal election nominations filed as of Aug. 18

Smooth Rock Falls has posted an unofficial list of nomination papers filed for the 2026 municipal election for mayor and councillor, current as of 1:20 p.m. on Aug. 18, with nominations open until 2 p.m. on Aug. 21, 2026.

The list gives residents an early look at who has filed to run for council so far, but it is not final and is expected to change before the nomination deadline.

Two candidates were listed for mayor: Patrick Roberts and Gratien Bernier.

Six candidates were listed for councillor: Joe (Jean-Marie) Couture, Leslie Gagnon, Tracy Gagnon, Jason Elliott, Gary Kurtz and Serge Richard.

The nomination period runs from May 1, 2026, until 2 p.m. on Aug. 21, 2026.

The list is to be updated as nominations are received.

After nominations close, the clerk and returning officer, Nathalie Vachon, will certify nominations under the Municipal Elections Act, 1996.
