Smooth Rock Falls says Caisse Alliance donated $1,000 toward spruce for future community Christmas tree

The Town of Smooth Rock Falls says Caisse Alliance has donated $1,000 toward the purchase of a spruce tree that the town intends to use as a permanent community Christmas tree.

The donation and the town’s plan for the tree were shared in a town notice posted online on Sept. 24, along with a bilingual poster thanking Caisse Alliance.

In its notice, the town said the $1,000 donation is “toward the purchase of a spruce tree for our community.” The town said that “with a little time to grow,” the spruce will become Smooth Rock Falls’ “permanent community Christmas tree,” and described it as “a gathering place for holiday memories for years to come.”

The bilingual poster repeats the same message in English and French. It includes a photo of a young spruce tree supported by two metal stakes in a grassy area, with a small plaque in front. The plaque also thanks Caisse Alliance in both languages.

The town’s materials did not include the tree’s location, planting date or timing, or the total cost of the purchase.
