Smooth Rock Falls starts construction on 20-unit seniors housing project, move-in expected fall 2027

The Town of Smooth Rock Falls says it has broken ground on its Seniors’ Attainable Housing Project, a 20-unit rental development for adults aged 55 and older. The town’s announcement on July 22 said construction is underway and the first residents are expected to move in fall 2027.

The project is expected to add 20 accessible, two-bedroom rental units in Smooth Rock Falls aimed at older adults. In its announcement, the town said the development is intended to help seniors remain independent while continuing to live in the community.

According to the town, the development will include shared indoor and outdoor common spaces.

The town said Descon Construction Ltd. is the contractor and that construction is now underway.

The town’s announcement did not include the project’s cost or the site address. The town also did not provide additional details on rent levels or how tenants will be selected.
