Smooth Rock Falls council will hold a public meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2026, about a proposed zoning by-law amendment for Catharine Street. The meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. in the council chambers at 142 First Avenue.
The meeting concerns a request to change zoning on several Catharine Street properties to allow a 20-unit seniors’ rowhouse development. The town’s public notice says the meeting is being held under Section 34 of Ontario’s Planning Act.
The subject properties are 336, 339, 340, 344, 345, 350 and 356 Catharine Street.
The applicant is requesting an amendment to Comprehensive Zoning By-law No. 2016-04 to rezone the lands from Residential First Density (R1) to Residential Third Density (R3) to permit the development.
The application also requests a special exception to certain provisions of Zoning By-law No. 2016-04, according to the public notice.
