Smooth Rock Falls to mail 2026 interim tax bills in early February; first payment due Feb. 27
Smooth Rock Falls will mail 2026 interim property tax bills in early February, with the first instalment due Feb. 27, according to a town notice.
The February schedule includes several dates and reminders that may affect residents’ plans, including a Family Day closure for Town Hall and the arena, two council meeting dates, and a winter reminder about the town’s snow-removal bylaw and associated fines.
Payments for the interim tax bill can be made online, at a bank, or at Town Hall, the notice states.
Town Hall and the Smooth Rock Falls arena will be closed Feb. 16 for Family Day.
Smooth Rock Falls council is scheduled to meet Feb. 2 at 6:30 p.m. and again Feb. 17 at 6:30 p.m. Council is expected to pass the 2026 municipal budget at the Feb. 2 meeting, according to the town notice.
Bylaw 2025-72 prohibits pushing, plowing or dumping snow onto municipal roads or sidewalks. The town notice warns that dumping snow on roads and sidewalks is a safety hazard.
The bylaw lists penalties of $150 to $250 for a first offence and $250 up to $550 for repeat offences. Crossing a municipal road with snow carries a listed fine of $300 to $550.
The town is seeking one new community member to join the Cemetery and Community Spaces Committee, according to the notice.
