Smooth Rock Falls to temporarily close access road near Freshmart starting week of Sept. 8
Smooth Rock Falls is set to temporarily close the access road between 248 Highway 11 and 274 Highway 11 starting the week of Sept. 8, 2026, while sewer and watermain servicing is carried out for a development at 251 Highway 11.
The closure affects a short roadway near the Chinese restaurant and the Freshmart grocery store, and drivers will need to use other routes to reach nearby businesses. The town says the work will take place over the coming weeks.
No traffic will be permitted through the access road during construction.
Avertex Utility Solutions Inc. is scheduled to complete the sewer and watermain servicing work.
The main grocery store entrance from Highway 11 is expected to remain open throughout the work. Access to Freshmart and customer parking is also expected to remain open during construction.
Parking in front of the grocery store may be limited at times. Customers are encouraged to use the parking area on the east side of the grocery store building.
Drivers and pedestrians are asked to use caution, follow posted signs and watch for construction vehicles.
