Smooth Rock Falls water-main flushing to start June 17, with possible discoloured water and low pressure

Water-main flushing in Smooth Rock Falls is set to begin June 17, with the Ontario Clean Water Agency scheduled to carry out the annual cleaning and flushing between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. The agency expects the work to be completed near the end of July.

Residents may notice changes to their tap water during the flushing period, including coloured or murky water and low water pressure. The notice was issued June 3.

The agency said coloured or murky water could occur during and after flushing operations. If the water is still discoloured after 4 p.m., residents are advised to run cold water for a few minutes.

Low water pressure is also possible during flushing, according to the notice.

No street-by-street schedule was included for when flushing will take place in different parts of Smooth Rock Falls.
