Some Cochrane waste collection routes move to Thursdays starting Oct. 8, 2026
Some Town of Cochrane households will have their regular waste pickup moved to Thursdays starting Oct. 8, 2026, based on a highlighted collection area shown on a map included with a municipal public notice.
The change affects residents on several central Cochrane streets near local landmarks such as Commando Lake Beach & Park and Giant Tiger. The town’s notice also lists three locations that will continue to receive Wednesday collection.
The town said the following locations will remain on Wednesday pickup: Heavener’s, Kaylobs and the hospital.
Garbage containers must be placed at the curb by 7 a.m. on the scheduled collection day, the notice states.
The map with the notice highlights the affected streets as Eighth St, 8th St, Water Plant Rd, 7th St W, 7th St E, 6th St, 6th St W, 5th St, 5th St W, 4th St and 4th St W.
Landmarks shown on the map include Aileen-Wright English Catholic School, Cochrane Family Health Team, Sweetgrass Health Centre, Taylors Kafe, Cochrane Pavilion, Giant Tiger, and Commando Lake Beach & Park.
The public notice is dated Sept. 8, 2026. It does not explain why the route was changed.
