Speed Limits Reduced on Rural Highways Inside Black River-Matheson Urban Boundaries
The Township of Black River-Matheson has amended its Traffic By-Law to lower speed limits on certain municipal roads, effective July 23, 2025.
Drivers on rural highways located within the urban boundaries of Black River-Matheson are affected by this change, as the speed limit on these roads has been reduced from 80 km/h to 60 km/h. The speed limit for urban highways within the same boundaries remains unchanged at 50 km/h.
The changes were enacted through By-Law 2025-51, amending the previous Traffic By-Law 2021-089. According to the official public notice, the amendment aims to improve road safety. The notice is signed by Clerk Hong Ji Lei.
