Statistics Canada Labour Force Survey: March 2025 Results

Statistics Canada Releases Labour Force Data for March 2025

Statistics Canada has published its Labour Force Survey (LFS) results for March 2025, shedding light on employment conditions during the period of March 9 to 15, 2025. This survey provides detailed data on employment, unemployment, and participation rates across various regions, including the Northeast of Ontario.

In March 2025, approximately 50,000 interviews were conducted, as part of the survey, with methodology relying on information collected through resumed face-to-face personal interviews, which started again in November 2022. Employment data has been adjusted for seasonal variations to give an accurate representation of the labour market. Statistics Canada defines full-time employment as 30 or more hours worked per week in a main job.

Temporary adjustments to the unemployment rate calculation have been made effective from April 6 to July 12, 2025, within Employment Insurance regions, placing the maximum limit at 13.1%. These adjustments have been included to better reflect current economic conditions, with Statistics Canada offering details on these measures.
