Three candidates listed in Smooth Rock Falls election nominations as of Aug. 10
Smooth Rock Falls has posted an unofficial list of three people who had filed nomination papers for the 2026 municipal election as of 11:32 a.m. on Aug. 10. The list names Patrick Roberts and Gratien Bernier for mayor, and Jean-Marie (Joe) Couture for councillor.
The list gives residents an early look at who has registered to run so far, and the town says it will change as more nominations are filed ahead of the deadline.
According to the town’s notice, the nomination period opened May 1, 2026, and closes at 2 p.m. on Nomination Day, Aug. 21, 2026.
The notice says the posted list is for information purposes and will be updated on an ongoing basis as nominations are received.
After the nomination period closes, the town says the clerk will certify the nominations in accordance with Ontario’s Municipal Elections Act, 1996.
