Timmins cancels Tuesday morning crossing guard shifts as Environment Canada issues yellow cold warning
Crossing guard shifts in Timmins will be canceled Tuesday morning, Jan. 20, as Environment Canada has issued a yellow cold warning with temperatures expected to drop below -40 with wind chill.
The change affects families and drivers during the morning school commute, when crossing guards are typically stationed at key intersections.
According to the City of Timmins, the cancellation follows city policy for extreme cold conditions. The city said crossing guard shifts are expected to resume in the afternoon.
The notice was posted on the City of Timmins website on Jan. 19 at 4:17 p.m.
