Timmins council approves $1.38M plus HST for new courts at Leo DelVillano Park and McIntyre complex
Timmins city council has approved two contracts totalling $1,383,441.82 plus HST for new tennis and pickleball courts at Leo DelVillano Park and for a new pickleball facility at the McIntyre Community Centre complex, with construction expected to be completed by late summer.
The projects affect two well-used recreation sites in Timmins and include both the groundwork and the installation of the playing surfaces, according to the city’s announcement.
The city said it awarded the work to Court Surface Specialists. The contract for the courts at Leo DelVillano Park is $886,768.26 plus HST, and the contract for installation of the McIntyre Pickleball Centre is $496,673.56 plus HST.
The city said the contracts include site preparation and full installation of the courts.
In the same announcement, the city said council has previously approved additional improvements at Leo DelVillano Park as part of the city’s capital budget. The city said those upgrades will be brought forward later and include a new playground structure, additional soccer nets, parking lot improvements, and permanent rink boards.
“This is another step forward in expanding recreational opportunities across the city,” said Steph Palmateer, city clerk and director of community services, in the release.
