Timmins city council approved a $3,383,435 construction contract, plus HST, on May 20 for terminal upgrades at Victor M. Power Airport. The work will be done by G&S Enterprises.

According to the city’s announcement, the contract covers an addition to the departure lounge, renovations to the security screening area, and modernization of the terminal’s front façade.

The city said the departure lounge expansion is meant to add space and improve passenger flow during peak periods. The city also said the security screening renovations are intended to ensure compliance with aviation security requirements.

For the building exterior, the city said the front façade work is intended to address long-term maintenance needs.

The city said the work follows completion of the initial design phase and is based on recommendations in the Timmins Victor M. Power Airport Master Plan.
