Timmins council approves $3.38M contract for Victor M. Power Airport terminal upgrades

Timmins city council approved a $3.38 million construction contract, plus HST, with G&S Enterprises on May 20 for upgrades at the Victor M. Power Airport terminal, including an addition to the departure lounge, renovations to the security screening area, and work on the terminal’s front façade.

The project involves areas used by passengers before departure and changes to the front of the building. The city did not provide a construction timeline.

The city says the departure-lounge addition is intended to add passenger space and improve passenger flow during peak travel times.

The city says the security-screening area renovations are intended to improve efficiency and meet aviation security requirements.

The city says exterior façade work is planned, citing long-term maintenance needs.

The project follows completion of the initial design phase and is based on recommendations in the airport master plan, according to the city’s announcement.
