Timmins council to hold May 15 public meeting on Highway 101 East rezoning for proposed shopping centre
Timmins city council will hold a public meeting Friday, May 15, 2026, at 10 a.m. in council chambers at Timmins City Hall, 220 Algonquin Blvd. East, to consider a proposed zoning bylaw amendment for land in Whitney Township on Highway 101 East.
The proposed change would allow an approximately 464.52-square-metre neighbourhood shopping centre, according to the city’s public meeting notice.
The applicant is Collex Ltd. (Jamie Clarke). The city lists the planning file as Z-2026-02.
The city says the zoning amendment would rezone the lands from residential (Residential First Density with Special Provision 6.121 and Residential First Density Flood Fringe, currently listed as NA-R1 SP6.121 and NA-R1-f) to highway commercial (EA-CH) and hazard lands (RD-HAZ).
The neighbourhood shopping centre is proposed for the portion of the site that would be rezoned highway commercial (EA-CH), the notice says.
The notice lists the location as Concession 4, South Part of Lot 10, Registered Plan CR-598, Parts 25 to 27, Part 29, and Parts 51 to 53, in Whitney Township in the City of Timmins.
The meeting is being held under Section 34 of Ontario’s Planning Act, according to the notice. The meeting is open to the public.
