Timmins council to hold Sept. 11 public meeting on Sandy Falls Road official plan amendment

Timmins council will hold a public meeting Friday, Sept. 11, 2026, at 10 a.m. in council chambers at Timmins City Hall, 220 Algonquin Blvd. E., on a proposed official plan amendment for a Sandy Falls Road property in Mountjoy Township.

The proposal would change how a 2.0-hectare proposed lot is designated in the city’s official plan and would adjust Timmins’ settlement area boundary. The city says the application’s stated intent is to accommodate a future single-detached dwelling on the property.

The amendment would redesignate the 2.0-hectare lot from “Employment Area” to “Resource Development Area.” It would also reduce Timmins’ settlement area boundary by 2.0 hectares.

The City of Timmins says the redesignation is intended to fulfill a condition of approval for Consent Application B-10-26, which was approved by the City of Timmins Committee of Adjustment via Decision No. 26-057, dated June 22, 2026.

The owners are listed as Kim and Sharon Lavergne. The applicant/agent is Debbie Vandenakker of Planscape Inc.

The location is listed as Concession 3, North Part of Lot 5, Registered Plan 6R-4063, Part of Part 1, Parcel 21385SEC, Mountjoy Township, City of Timmins (Sandy Falls Road).

The city’s file number for the proposed official plan amendment is OPA-2026-01. The city says the land was also the subject of Minor Variance Application A-30-26 and Consent Application B-10-26.

The notice states the meeting is being held under Ontario’s Planning Act, and council will hear comments before deciding whether to adopt the amendment.
