Timmins discontinues Recyclepedia app as of June 1; Circular Materials app listed as replacement

The City of Timmins has discontinued the Timmins Recyclepedia app, effective June 1, 2026, and says residents can get recycling information and collection reminders through a mobile app from Circular Materials.

The change is tied to Ontario’s transition to producer responsibility for recycling. Under that system, Circular Materials is responsible for residential recycling collection in Timmins, according to the city’s notice.

In its announcement, the city said Circular Materials’ app is intended to replace key functions that had been available through Recyclepedia.

According to the notice, the Circular Materials app includes a lookup tool to help residents review what materials belong in their recycling bin.

The notice also says users can sign up for collection reminders and notifications through the app.

In addition, the city said the app can provide updates about recycling services in a resident’s area.

The city’s notice did not mention options for residents who do not use smartphones to access recycling information or collection reminders.
