Timmins fire at Deloro Landfill on Pine St. S. was contained, fire department says

The Timmins Fire Department responded to a fire at the Deloro Landfill on Pine St. S. at about 6:59 p.m. Sunday, May 24, 2026. The fire was fully contained, the department said.

The update includes a reminder from the fire department for residents to keep clear of emergency scenes, saying extra traffic can create hazards for emergency vehicles when crews need to shuttle water.

Crews from Station 5 were dispatched after reports of black smoke visible along Pine St. S., the city’s update said. Firefighters arrived to find a large fire at the landfill site.

Additional tankers from Stations 1, 3 and 4 responded to the scene, according to the same update.

Waste operators assisted crews with heavy equipment while firefighters worked to contain the fire, the city said in its posting.
