Timmins fire destroys home on Kraft Creek Road; dog treated for minor injuries

A residence on Kraft Creek Road in Timmins was destroyed by a fire Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2026, and a dog was taken to a veterinarian with minor injuries, according to the Timmins Fire Department. The department said it received the call at about 4:38 p.m., and no one was home at the time.

The home is considered a total loss, the department said. The fire department also said an investigation found the incident is not considered suspicious.

The Timmins Fire Department said crews from Stations 1, 3, 4 and 5 were dispatched to the scene.

Firefighters used tankers to shuttle water from a supply established at Timmins Pentecostal Church while crews worked to extinguish the fire, according to the department.

The fire department reminded residents to ensure working smoke alarms are installed on every level of their home and outside all sleeping areas. The department also said residents should have a home escape plan with a designated meeting place and practise the plan with everyone in their household.
