Timmins hydrant replacement July 13 may disrupt water service on parts of Hemlock Street North and Brousseau Avenue

Water service may be disrupted in Timmins on Monday, July 13, 2026, while the city replaces a fire hydrant near Hemlock Street North and Brousseau Avenue, according to a notice from the City of Timmins Environmental Services Department. The work is scheduled from 7:30 a.m. to 10 p.m.

The city says residents and businesses in the affected blocks could see short-term loss of water or lower water pressure during the work, and some may notice brown or rust-coloured water.

The disruption area includes Hemlock Street North from 529 Hemlock Street North to Brousseau Avenue. It also includes Brousseau Avenue from Tamarack Street North to Hemlock Street North, the city said.

The city advises residents not to drink discoloured water or use it to wash laundry. According to the notice, the discoloured water is not harmful to health, but it can stain laundry.

If water becomes discoloured during the work, the city advises turning off the tap for 10 to 20 minutes to allow the crew to finish. After the work is complete, the city advises running the cold-water tap closest to the source—usually a laundry tub tap—for about 15 to 20 minutes, or until the water returns to normal colour.

The notice was issued by the City of Timmins Environmental Services Department on July 10.
