Timmins issues extreme cold alert for Dec. 23; shelter available at 316 Spruce St. S.

The City of Timmins issued an extreme cold weather alert for Tuesday, December 23, 2025, with overnight temperatures expected to drop to -25 with wind chill. Emergency shelter assistance is available at 316 Spruce St. S.

“Exposure to extreme cold temperatures can cause serious and sometimes even life-threatening health problems, such as frostbite and hypothermia,” the city cautioned. Guidance in the advisory includes avoiding wind exposure, dressing in warm layers, and covering exposed skin.

Recent posts on the city’s website show extreme cold weather alerts were also issued on Dec. 3, 7, 19, and 20.
