Timmins issues extreme cold alert for Dec. 24–25; overnight as low as -27 with wind chill

Timmins issued an extreme cold weather alert for Wednesday and Thursday, Dec. 24–25, 2025, citing overnight temperatures as low as -27, inclusive of wind chill. Emergency shelter is available at 316 Spruce St. S.

Exposure to extreme cold can cause serious and sometimes life-threatening health problems, including frostbite and hypothermia. The alert advises residents to reduce exposure by avoiding wind, dressing in warm layers, and covering exposed skin.

The city posted the alert on its website at 10:25 a.m. on Dec. 24 under the headline “Extreme Cold Weather Alert – December 24 and 25, 2025.”
